Moment of Starlings Munich

On november 25th a group called Die Urbanauten arranged a huge mob, or as they call it "swarm" in the city centre of munich. Usually they communicate via sms and twitter.
It was already the second of its kind. Look at their site and videos here. Great stuff!

Paint the city

Today we went to the big space infront of the cologne central station with many pots of street chalk and started to draw on the floor.
We didn't have to wait long or do a lot of convincing to get many many people to draw, write something or just laugh and talk with us.
What a beautiful day, happy people and great street artists.

Urban Interventions by FH Potsdam

Pay and Sit by Fabian Brunsig

City fittings by yo.anisThese are the results of the collaboration between the Interface Design programme of the FH Potsdam and the Parsons School of Design in New York from 2008. The aim of this class was to develop »Urban Interventions«. The students were asked to define design opportunities in the urban landscape and develop a video prototype that communicates the intervention.

Research Proposal

How can fun change peoples behaviour? How can one use the public realm uncommercially?

Design for Public Intervention is a work on intentional and non-intentional transformation of the public space.

The public realm gives space for communication, action and human interaction. How come it is so slanted towards transit and traffic.
In this reasearch I want to find out how designers and non-designers, interventionists, activists, guerilleros and guerilleras can reclaim the public space without being destructive vandalists.
